RA students have investigated the public policy dimensions of sustainable meat and fish production within the framework of the Spring 2010 300-level course public policy analysis.
Their research papers have been collected in What’s on the Menu? A comparative analysis of the agenda-setting dynamics of sustainable meat and fish in four European countries. The various contributions assess attention for sustainability issues in four countries (United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands) on four different agendas (Media, Public, Government and Supermarkets). Among the questions addressed are the framing of the overfishing of Bluefin tuna in newspapers in the four countries, the Dutch debate on the meat-tax as a possible solution to greenhousegas problems and a comparison of sustainability practices of Dutch and UK supermarkets.
