ACC 160 English for Academic Purposes (Elementary)

Content

This course is part of the Academic Core and must be taken in the student’s first semester at RA. It will support and enhance performance on the other courses across the faculties at RA.
The course focuses on improving your proficiency in English to the level required for success at an English medium institution of higher education. The emphasis is on language skills.
The writing of essays and issues such as structure, style and referencing are covered, as well as several other writing activities. You will also learn to give individual presentations. The topics on which you will write and present will be taken from the academic context. You will participate in group discussions, learn to give peer feedback, understand academic texts and do research.
Ongoing vocabulary development and reflections on your own learning process are part of the program.
