Roosevelt Academy’s Institute for Undergraduate Research Eleanor provides research assistance to institutions, companies and organizations based in the Province of Zeeland. As part of RA’s academic community Eleanor carries out high quality, reliable and scientifically sound research projects that best suit your needs and wishes.

Research

If your organization or institution is looking for reliable research, Eleanor may very well be the right choice. We carry out research in a wide variety of disciplines and fields, on several levels. Based on a set of specifically prescribed criteria (such as the relevance of your research proposal, its time frame, and its educational significance), a research group of RA students or an individual student will carry out your project, under the supervision of one of our faculty experts.

How does it work?

Eleanor works closely with the client all steps of the way: first, together with our client, we try to formulate your research question and translate it into a research project. The project is then assigned to a group of students or an individual student whose field of study is closest to the subject matter to be studied. This group can, for instance, consist of those students who minor in Law, Psychology or Statistics, or in any other field. The students assigned then carry out the project. Furthermore, two supervisors are appointed: one on behalf of the client and one on behalf of Roosevelt Academy. Projects can be conducted at several levels: a first year level in small groups to even a third year level, as independent research projects.

How will you be informed about your project’s progress and results?

Your research project will mainly be carried out by students. The research team will consult with the client as often as necessary, as his/her experience can be valuable for and relevant to the kind of (practical) research we do. The final results will be made available in a clearly-written and comprehensible report.

How will we give your research project the attention it deserves?

Research results can often also be interesting for other organizations. Eleanor will first consult with the client as to what would be the best ways to publish the results to the public. There are several ways of doing so: by giving presentations, by publishing an article in a professional magazine or by issuing press releases and sending out mass mailings to other (related) organizations.

How much does this all cost?

Generally, we charge a fee for the expert coaching and coordination by RA (such as the Eleanor coordinator and/or the instructor) and for material costs made such as travel, printing or any other costs related to the project. We will, however, always consult with the client beforehand to determine the financial support needed and the amount he/she will be able to offer.

Who can draw on Eleanor’s services?

Any organization or company in the Province of Zeeland (and beyond), ranging from social institutions to non-profit organizations, can apply to Eleanor’s community and research services.
