Procedure

Each year approximately 200 students are eligible to enroll in Roosevelt Academy. About 125 of these students are from the Netherlands and Flanders; the other 75 hail from other countries. Because of the different backgrounds of the students, their educational and personal experiences and opportunities vary tremendously. The Admissions Committee therefore evaluates all prospective students according to their individual merit. The final decision will be based in particular on the individual letter of motivation relating to the prospective student's interests and plans, and the personal interview.

All students follow the same application procedure. After receiving the application form, students should do the following:

• In order to have your application considered you need to fill out the application form as comprehensively as possible. You should include a full academic report, a letter of recommendation from your school and a letter of motivation (max. 2 pages). If additional forms (such as the Transfer of Credit form), are needed, these should be included with your application.
• After the Admissions Office has received all applications a careful selection takes place to decide which students are invited for an interview. These interviews approximately last 30 to 45 minutes and provide an opportunity for both sides to learn more about each other. In general interviews are arranged in person, should you not be able to come to Roosevelt Academy it is possible to arrange an interview by telephone. These telephone interviews are generally only done for students who do not live in the Netherlands or in Belgium.
• After taking all relevant information into account the Board of Studies will make its decisions. All applicants are generally notified within one month after their interview. In the case of a positive recommendation, students can expect an invitation to study at Roosevelt Academy. At this point a student can register with Utrecht University, for which additional information will be provided.

• An admission offer is always a conditional one, as students must have passed their VWO or HBO propedeuse exams (or equivalent) first before they can be enrolled in Roosevelt Academy.
