Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Renata van der Weijden obtained a B.A. in geology and a M.Sc. in geochemistry from Utrecht University. Born in the Netherlands, Renata moved for a year with her family to Pennsylvania where she attended Junior High School. Her interest in geology was stirred by visits to the National Parks. After graduating from Utrecht University, she applied for a research assistantship at Florida State University. At the Department of Ocean Science, she worked on a project concerning radioisotope geochemistry (FIPR). She returned to the Netherlands to obtain a Ph.D at Utrecht University. Her dissertation focused on the absorption and incorporation of heavy metals on/in calcite. The practical work was carried out at the Netherlands Energy Research Center and at the Laboratory for Process Engineering at Delft University of Technology.

Precipitation of metals via bioreduction (Wageningen University).
